05/10/16 @ 09:27 AM

Today we are announcing the next Connect IQ compatible running watch, the Forerunner 735XT.

The Forerunner 735XT, a GPS running watch with multisport features and wrist-based heart rate. The most lightweight multisport-capable running watch from Garmin, the Forerunner 735XT features 24/7 heart rate monitoring and built-in activities including running, cycling, swimming, multisport, hiking, XC skiing, strength training, paddle sports and cardio.  This is going to be a very successful watch that meets the demanding needs of long distance runners around the world.

Today we are also excited to announce the expansion of our partnership with Strava to bring their premium Suffer Score feature to Garmin devices for the first time with Connect IQ.  Download it today: Strava Live Suffer Score

Live Suffer Score gives you a second-by-second answer to a tricky question: How hard are you trying? Strava analyzes how much time you’re running in different heart rate zones and measures total activity effort with a simple rating: The deeper you dig, the longer you can hold on, the higher your Suffer Score.

This new Garmin watch is going to be a huge hit in the running world and we look forward to having you as a part of this successful device.  From a development perspective, the Forerunner 735XT has a lot of the same features and capabilities as the Forerunner 230, 235 and 630 watches including screen shape, size, colors and fonts.  This makes it easy to make your previous Connect IQ apps compatible with this exciting, new watch.

Download the latest SDK and update your apps so they are available as we get these exciting new devices into the hands of runners around the world.
