When are you going to make Communicator compatible with Vista??

The Communicator is compatible with Vista.

We’ll update the Communicator product page to make this more clear.

The communicator does not communicate. Customer service is closed on Saturdays. Can’t update after wasting 1/2 hour of my valuable time. Very dissapointed.

I have downloaded Garmin communicator onto my home computer. My OS is Vista. I download the plugin for my IE7 but the test page says I don’t have it.

My limited knowledge about how these plugins are supposed to work keeps me from troubleshooting in depth. Can you give me a direction to check since your test page gives no info on what to do next except to keep downloading the plugin over and over again forever.

    Hi Mike..

After you’ve installed the Communicator Plugin, if the test page tells you the plugin is not detected, you may need to enable the ActiveX control using the blue bar at the top of your browser window. (see example below)

I am software engineer and have thoroughly checked your prerequisites for installation, and they are met. On XP/IE7 the plugin software is installed in so far as it is included in the software installation list, but it does not register as an add-on in the browsers add-on listings and is not detected by the ActiveX test page. I believe something is fundamentally broken. I am reporting against: InstallGarminCommunicatorPlugin_262.exe Signed on Wednesday, 1 October 2008 07:24:25
Maybe your certificate is out of date?

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.

    2. In the Open box, type msiexec /unreg and then click OK.

    3. When this process is complete, click Start, and then click Run.

    4. In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver,

you should be able to install now

I am trying to register my Garmin 260W but before I can register it, its asking me to install the “plug-in”. I am unable to do it after trying several times. I rebooted the pc but that didn’t help. I have noting else running. Can you help me?

I’m getting the same issue with the plugin, with both IE and Firefox. Is it some sort of weird thing with Norton or something?
